So I recently made up a free mini heart quilt pattern from Sassafras Lane Designs using a Charm Square Pack called Sincerely Yours by Sherri and Chelsi (MODA Fabrics).
The mini quilt is pretty small (12" x 12"). Each piece is 1" square! This mini has 144 x 1" squares. That's lot of cutting and a lot of small pieces to work with!
I pretty much used all the 'low volume' fabrics in the pack as background fabric and added some from my stash. The heart was made using pink / coral fabrics from the collection. To finish I sewed 9 x 5" squares together for the backing and cross cut the remaining squares into 2.25" x 5" strips to make the binding.
I really love how this turned out. To get the same effect ensure that you have sufficient contrast between the dark (heart) and background fabrics so that the heart takes centre stage.
