Fortunately, earlier this month Australia Post (AP) resumed shipping to the USA Duties Paid (DDP).
I have setup an account with ZONOS (who Australia Post uses to collect and remit duties to the USA) and have successfully connected AP to ZONOS. I have received my first invoices from ZONOS (they invoice only once the item clears Australian customs and there is NO information until then that it won't be rejected and sent back to me - as you can imagine not ideal.)
So their costs are very high when you look at the amount of duties actually being collected and paid to the US Customs service.
- AUD 1.69 for every shipment (which is high on small items)
- 10% of the landed cost (i.e. cost before shipping and duties)
These costs unfortunately have to be passed on as increased fees to you the customer.
