Following on from last year, 3 of the girls that come to sewing classes afterschool on Thursday's decided to enter the QuiltNSW Block Challenge again.
Georgia's block won 3rd Prize in the Youth Category. She based her block on an image she found on Pinterest - Hatsune miku in pink. She enlarged and printed it out and used a lightbox to transfer to Vliesofix and then onto fabric. Using blanket stitch - she layered the fabric to make the image. Using found ric rac and beads donated to the shop - she completed the image.

Mia based her block on a pattern by Burlap and Blossom Patterns found on Pinterest and purchased from Etsy. Mia used a quarter inch foot for the first time. She learnt to read the pattern and put together the components of her block. It's amazing how her quilting progresses with every year that passes.

Nicole's block was based on an original design. Taking her image and translating it into the one inch squares (pixels) she carefully choose her colours to represent a cityscape at sunrise, with the buildings still in darkness and the moon still in ascendance as the sun rose.

I love helping the girls with their secret sewing every year!
