About the course

This class is designed as an introduction to the fundamentals of patchwork and quilting. In this 5-week course you will be guided in the construction of a patchwork quilt. This can be sewn either by hand or machine depending on the preference of the individual. The pattern will only involve the piecing together of squares. Four variations of the one pattern will be available for you to choose from in the class.

Requirements

  • Fabric
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Cotton / thread
  • Sewing needles
  • Paper/Pen/Pencil
  • Quilting ruler
  • Rotary Cutter
  • Cutting Mat
  • Clover Sandpaper / Cutting & Ironing Multi Board
  • Sewing Machine (optional)

All requirements for the class will be available for purchase in the shop.

A sewing machine is available for use in the class room and you are welcome to bring your own machine to class. For those who do not have a sewing machine, this quilt is very easily constructed by hand piecing (Catherine’s preferred method) making it a very portable project!

Please contact the shop for fabric requirements should you wish to purchase fabric prior to commencement of class. However, it is recommended you complete lesson 1 first in which you choose your pattern and understand how to choose your fabric for the quilt you are making. Not all the fabric needs to be purchased at once, you can buy fabric as each step in the process requires.
