I entered my quilt in the 2018 QuiltNSW exhibition not expecting to win anything. I wasn't even going to attend the awards ceremony as I had just started a new job. Something made me check my spam mail a couple of days before the show and imagine my surprise when I found an email notifying me that I had won an award.
The quilt I had entered was called Paradox Point. The pattern is by Sassafras Lane Designs. The background fabric is a charcoal grey (manatee) from the FreeSpirit Designer Essentials range. The arrows were done in gorgeous reds from the Kaffe Fassett collection.
Well, turns out I won 3rd prize in the Professional categry - entrant's quilt top quilted by another. As you can see I was thrilled as I compete against a lot more experienced quilters in my category.
I suppose that all I say is that 'you have to be in it to win it!' I would definitely encourage you to enter your quilts in your local show. Besides winning a rosette, I also picked up a voucher from HobbySew - which I used to treat myself to a new lightbox and some wadding from Minijumbuk.
