So COVID-19 happened and instead of sitting and sewing at the Middle Harbour Public School - Fabric Garden's Sewing Circle went virtual! I sent out a Zoom invite to the team and a group of us spent the afternoon chatting and sewing together from the comfort of our homes. The only thing missing was the tea and cake! Our new reality. With the internet and technology there is no need to be alone when self-isolating. You are welcome to join us next month - just send me a message and I will send out an invite.
I was actually really productive. I cut out all the pieces for my second block in the Psychedelia Block of the Month by Jen Kingwell called Kinetic.
This block is a swirl of half square triangles which get larger and larger. The trick to getting this block right is laying them out first and then piecing them together.
I only pieced a couple incorrectly and had to use my unpicker - I am the Queen of unpicking after all!
This time rather than hand piecing, I chain pieced them on my machine and then this happened when I sewed over a pin. Luckily I have a second machine - but this one now needs to go for a service. What a pain. I think my local dealer - Bernina in Chatswood is still open. Let's hope it wasn't an expensive mistake.
Anyway, I managed to finish the block and was really impressed with how this one turned out. Again, just a random selection of Kaffe Fassett fabrics with a striking white on black print.
Let's get through this lockdown together. Stay safe and keep stitching.
