Join Anna Fran for a felt play mat making workshop at Fabric Garden in Neutral Bay, Sydney. You will learn how to create up to an A3 sized play mat from wool felt, based on a scenery of your choice using hand sewing techniques.

Skill Level: beginner to advanced. Basic sewing skills required.
Workshop Overview:
Anna Fran will take you through the process of creating a felt play mat, and using wool felt provided by Fabric Garden, you will sew a range of scenery elements using a range of different techniques and embroidery stitches to create a play mat any young child would love to have.
Play mats are great for getting children’s imagination flowing and are great for kids aged 3 and upwards by allowing them to experience imaginative and sensory play.
Please note that Fabric Garden are not selling the play mat, just providing the workshop to create your own, and it is up to the individual to ensure that all elements are secure on the play mat before giving it to children.
Prerequisites:
Decide on a play mat theme and have some reference images available.
Scenic themes include (and not limited to): forest, garden, under the sea, at the beach, roads, airport, construction site, in the snow, safari, farm
Included:
- Workshop kit (worth $45) - A range of felt, embroidery threads and shape templates
- Morning and afternoon tea are provided. Please advise of any dietary concerns!
The class is capped at 8 students.
